pentagon are a 9 member boy group that debuted on october tenth, 2016 under cube entertainment with their self titled ep, pentagon and the title track gorilla. pentagon was formed by the mnet reality program, pentagon maker.

two months after their debut on december seventh, 2016, pentagon released their second ep five senses, and their lead single, can you feel it. they also released an music video for one of their tracks on five senses, pretty pretty.

on november twenty-second pentagon released their fifth korean ep, demo_02 and title track runaway, another song produced by hui. the day after, pentagon released an music video for their b-side, violet, which was composed by kino.

on march twenty-ninth, 2017 pentagon had their debut in japan with the ep, gorilla including japanese versions of gorilla, can you feel it, and pretty pretty.

on june twelfth, 2017, pentagon released their third korean ep, ceremony and the lead single, critical beauty.

on september sixth, they released their fourth korean ep, demo_01 and the title track, like this which was produced by pentagon's leader, hui.

in august, soloist and company mate hyuna announced her relationship with member e'dawn, and in september both her contract with cube entertainment as well as e'dawn's were terminated and he was removed from the group september thirteenth.

from january to february 2019, pentagon had their first tour in japan, the dear cosmo tour. they went to four different stops in japan as well as released a single album, cosmo.

on march twenty-seventh, they released their eighth korean ep, genie:us with the lead single, sha la la. this was the last nine member comeback that pentagon has had as of july 2020.

while this was happening, pentagon released their seventh korean ep, thumbs up! with the title track naughty boy. both e'dawn and yanan were absent for this comeback.

on twelfth february, 2020 pentagon released their first full length album, universe: the black hall, with title track, dr.bebe. nine out of the eleven tracks on universe: the black hall have either writing or producing credits from the members themselves.

from april to december 2019, pentagon had their first world tour, the prism world tour, and traveled to twenty-three cities and stops across four different continents.

on july seventeenth, pentagon released their ninth korean ep, sum(m:er) and their lead single, humph! produced by hui and giriboy. pentagon promoted as eight for this comeback and have continued to do so since.
